The Center for Biblical Studies is a ministry of Southern View Chapel in Springfield, Illinois.  SVC is dedicated to the proclamation of the Word of God to the glory of Christ. Our purpose statement is ”Learning Truth, Living Truth.”  SVC also sponsors Think on These Things which is a biblical discernment ministry that examines contemporary issues and theology through the lens of Scripture. The general ministries of Southern View Chapel, the discernment ministry of "Think on These Things" and the academic studies of the Center for Biblical Studies all seek to provide a solid understanding of Scripture in order that the people of God might be “adequate, equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim 3:17 NASB).

The new classes for the Center for Biblical Studies will begin January 15 and continue through April 30. 

One course of study will be "Moral Purity taught by Pastor Richard Nix. The course will be taught on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at SVC.  The purpose of this class is to cover several of the biggest moral issues of our day. Subjects covered will be morality definition from Scripture, a biblical view of sex, homosexuality, and pornography. Attention will be given to applying purity in these areas and to helping others who struggle with moral purity. The tuition for the course has been waived.

The second course of study will be "Mastering Your Money" taught by Pastor Gary Gilley. The course will be taught on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at SVC and will end March 12. This course will focus on how to handle your finances in a practical manner that will bring glory to God. Subjects will include: budgeting, planning, savings, insurance, investing, retirement and more.  There are no books required for this course. The tuition for the course has been waived.
